Fresh Faces: Kling Bags
Natasha talks about her lovely line of vegan bagsTell us a little bit about your bags.
They’re vegan, pvc free, green; the interiors are all different, and I do that because I get really, really irritated when I have a bag that has a black interior and you cant find anything in it. You’re just constantly digging. So with my bags, you open them up and its just as fun as looking at the outside of them.
What kind of girl carries your bags?
It’s funny. I envision the edgy and eclectic--not the typical person who’s going to follow the trend. Someone who kind of does her own thing has her own look and has no apologies about that. What I’ve learned is that my customer is a little bit different—she’s an older women, usually in her 40’s to 60’s and very, very eclectic. She has money and her own style.
What I’ve found in those particular shoppers--unlike girls who are in their teens and their twenties—are that they recognize the quality. You can’t explain to a 20-year-old who shops at H&M why the product she’s looking at is not worth 35 dollars. She has no idea.
How do you design?
I’m always designing. It might be while I’m in the shower. It might be while I’m looking at an old design. It might be while I’m outside looking at something or having a picnic.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Coconut water, my bicycle and my iphone.
